About this Blog

This blog aims to document the stands of corporate Philippines on the issue of Gay Marriage or 'Same-Sex' Marriage as legal entities operating in the country.

Executive Order 209, otherwise known as the 1987 Family Code of the Philippines, requires that marriage be contracted only between "a man and a woman" (Art. 1; Art. 2 (1), and such a marriage is "not subject to stipulation"(Art. 1). This law alone makes it impossible for gay marriage to happen in the Philippine not to mention its largely Christian population that values the solemnity of marriage between a straight man and a straight woman. The law is so clear in the gender differences so that even the existence of homosexuality in any one spouse can be ground for the annulment of marriage as a defective union at the time of contract (Art. 46 (4)).
